About Sarah
Sarah Tormey worked for Erik Tadda while she was an undergraduate, left to go to law school, and came back when she finished. She has been practicing since 2012, which makes her the third of the four attorneys here to have joined the firm before being admitted and then stayed.
She holds a business degree from Louisiana State University and returned to LSU for law school, earning her Juris Doctor together with a Graduate Diploma in Civil Law from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2012. She appeared on the Chancellor’s List in 2010 and 2011.
During law school she took part in the Family Law and Domestic Violence clinic, and spent a summer after her first year studying in Lyon, France. She was admitted in Louisiana in 2012.
How Sarah works
Sarah’s practice covers the firm’s core work of plaintiff personal injury, motor vehicle collisions, workers’ compensation, premises liability, and slip and fall claims.
She also handles matters the rest of the office does not, including family law, successions, and estate planning. Those come up more often than people expect after a serious injury or a death, when a family is trying to sort out an estate at the same time as a claim.
The clinic experience matters here in a way that is easy to miss on a credentials list. A good deal of this work involves sitting with someone at a bad moment and explaining a process they never wanted to learn.
Most of the firm’s work is car accident claims and workers’ compensation, handled from one office in Baton Rouge for clients across the surrounding parishes. The full list of practice areas and the story of the firm are a click away.
