About the firm
A small practice, on purpose.
Erik Tadda started in this work at fifteen, driving a family friend who practiced personal injury law to his depositions and carrying his briefcase into court.
He was allowed to sit in. By the time he was in college he was working hands on with files as a legal assistant. He went to law school knowing exactly what he intended to do with the license, which is an unusual thing to be able to say, and he was admitted in Louisiana in 1991.
He spent his first years in practice as a partner at Calvit & Tadda, from 1991 to 2000, then went out on his own in 2001, and The Tadda Law Firm was organized as a Louisiana limited liability company in December 2006. It has grown steadily since, without debt and without lines of credit, which has probably held it back a little and has also meant it has never had to make a decision for the wrong reason.
Why the firm stays small
Baton Rouge has some very large personal injury firms, the kind with billboards on every corridor. Erik is direct about not trying to be one of them. His own comparison is to hardware: there is a Home Depot and a Lowe’s in this market, and he is content running the Ace Hardware down the road.
The difference that makes to a client is structural rather than sentimental. At a large firm a case is typically signed by one person, managed by another, and handed to a third if it is filed, with a paralegal sitting between the client and the lawyer. Here there are no legal assistants working files in place of an attorney. You only talk to lawyers, and lawyers are the only people who talk to the adjusters.
The people have not changed
Erik works alongside his son, Rick Tadda. Sarah Tormey worked for the firm while she was an undergraduate and came back after law school. Jeremy Hader clerked here during law school and has been here ever since.
That continuity is the quiet reason the firm can promise what it promises. The person who can answer a question about your file in month nine is the same person who took your first call, because nobody has left.

What the firm handles
The work is plaintiff injury work: people hurt through someone else’s carelessness, and people hurt on the job. Most cases start on the road, as car accidents and truck crashes, and a large share are workers’ compensation claims for people whose employer’s insurer has stopped paying or never started. The full list is on the practice areas page. Where a case is not one the firm should take, the attorney you speak to will say so at the first conversation rather than months later.
How the firm measures itself
Most of the work arrives by referral from former clients, which is a slower way to grow than advertising and a more demanding one, because it depends entirely on how the last case was handled. The firm currently holds 5.0 stars across 311 Google reviews, and review requests go out at the end of a case rather than the beginning. Every one of them is on the reviews page, and a few are below.

Office, in Baton Rouge
In the profession
Trained here, and active in the local bar.
All four attorneys took their law degrees at LSU’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center, a few miles from the office, and all four are admitted in Louisiana. Each one’s standing can be checked in the Louisiana State Bar Association member directory.
Erik has been a member of the Louisiana Association for Justice, the state’s trial lawyers’ association, since 1991, and of the Baton Rouge Bar Association since 1995. He has belonged to the 21st Judicial District Court Bar Association since 2000, the bar for Livingston, Tangipahoa, and St. Helena parishes, and to the LSU Law Chancellor’s Council since 2005. Jeremy and Sarah are members of both the Louisiana Association for Justice and the Baton Rouge Bar Association, since 2006 and 2012 respectively.
In the community
Neighbors first.
The attorneys live where their clients live, and their time outside the office goes to the same parishes. Erik has been a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church in Gonzales since 2004. Jeremy has belonged to the St. Thomas More Catholic Church Men’s Club in Baton Rouge since 2007. Sarah has mentored through the Big Buddy Program since 2014, and the same year joined Baton Rouge Habitat Young Professionals and Club BLUE, the young professionals group of the Boys and Girls Club.
Each attorney’s full background, from education to bar admissions, is on their own page. Meet the attorneys.

Where we work
Baton Rouge, and the communities east of it.
The office sits on the east side of the city, the first exit coming in from the east, which is why so much of the work arrives from along the I-12 and I-55 corridors. Every consultation happens at the office on O'Neal Lane, or by phone, whichever suits you.
